2021 Bird Bander Training with Puget Sound Bird Observatory

Don’t miss this great opportunity to learn the skills needed to participate in monitoring and research programs involving bird banding.

The Bander Training course is a five-day hands-on training class that takes place over two weekends in August. Participants will learn the fundamentals of bird banding through a combination of classroom instruction, in-the-field banding at the Willow Creek Hatchery in Edmonds, and daily reading and homework practice assignments.

We will be asking for proof of Covid-19 vaccination this year to protect all participants and staff.

The cost for this year's course will be $550 and includes a copy of the Identification Guide to North American Birds by Peter Pyle.

Trainer Christine Southwick teaches the class at the Willow Creek Hatchery in Edmonds, Washington, where on-site native plant gardens and the nearby Edmonds Marsh support a variety of resident and migrating birds.
