How has bird conservation evolved over the past century, and what can its history teach us about protecting birds today?
Join the Western Bird Banding Association's Winter Webinar Series for a presentation by Lesley Howes, Bird Banding Biologist with the Canadian Wildlife Service at Environment and Climate Change Canada.
Lesley will explore the historical threats that inspired the Migratory Birds Convention of 1916 and trace the evolution of avian research, from early specimen collection and traditional bird banding to today's sophisticated satellite tracking technologies.
The presentation will highlight the important role of community science, public engagement, and scientific innovation in advancing bird conservation across North America.
